Trencher Heavy - Duty

Suit ski steers & mini loaders 1500MM BOOM

8102 "HTHD" Heavy Duty Side Shift Trencher is a sturdy trencher for the operator whose primary task is trenching. This unit still utilises the standard auxiliary hydraulic system of the host machine and has the same features as the 8101 "HT" trencher and has the added bonus of more durable wear parts.

Two options are available either with a 900mm or 1200mm maximum digging depth*. The trencher chain has a pitch of 2", with a 50,000lbs breaking strain. All sprockets are manufactured from 360 grade bisalloy (wear plate). Trenching widths range from 100mm up to 350mm wide (50mm increments).

All trenchers are supplied with a crumber and twin 350mm clearing augers Adjustment bolts fitted to each side of the boom are turned to tension the chain. A buffer spring located in the boom takes up shock loads from the nose sprocket.

A robust gerotor hydraulic motor that directly drives the drive sprocket via a drive shaft drives the trencher. This type of set-up reduces wear part (eg. gearboxes), requires no on-going servicing, and achieves high start-up torque. The drive sprocket has a tapered bore making it easier to remove the sprocket and refit the sprocket so that it lines up with the other sprockets on the trencher. A labyrinth seal beside the drive sprocket stops dirt from entering the bearing housing thereby protecting the bearings from premature wear.

The trencher boom is fitted with a nylon insert for easy replacement when worn. Bisalloy (high grade wear plate) is fitted to the top and of the boom and trencher main frame to combat wear caused by chain travelling over these areas.

The main frame is attached to a 1500mm wide quick attach frame by side plates which makes it possible to offset the trencher to one side (usually the left), for trenching close to wall, fences etc. The overall length of the 900mm dig depth trencher (with the crumber bar folded back) is 2200mm, making it possible to fit the trencher width way across the back of a truck. The side shift trencher is solidly constructed and can also run a rock chain.

*Digging depths are calculated with the boom at a 50° angle to the ground, it is not the boom length.
