Trencher MTA

Suit skid steer & mini loaders

8110-002 "MTA (II)" Extra Heavy Duty Side Shift Trencher has been purpose built to handle the higher horsepower produced by high-flow loaders. The 8110-002 trencher is recommended for the operator whose primary task is for high performance trenching.

The trencher utilises the high-flow auxiliary hydraulic system of the host machine and requires a case drain. Two models are available either a 900mm or 1200mm maximum digging depth. Changing the crowd on the quick hitch of the carrier machine alters the digging depth. The trencher chain has a pitch of 2", with a 50,000 lbs breaking strain. Trenching widths range from between 150mm up to 350mm wide (50mm increments). A single 600mm diameter-clearing auger is fitted to the drive shaft for removing spoil away from the sides of the trench.

All trenchers are supplied with a crumber (which cleans the floor of the trench). Located on the side of the boom and protected by cover plates is a grease nipple used for adjusting the tension on the chain (similar operation to tensioning tracks on large crawler type earthmoving machinery).

The MTA (II) trencher is fitted with a MCR motor (Multi Cam, Multi-Piston Radial Motor) and various displacements are available for the variety of skid steer loaders available.  select the most suitable motor. A high-pressure in-line filter protects the hydraulic motor from contaminants.

The 19 tooth drive sprocket is manufactured from bisalloy 360 (wear plate) for longer service life. Apart from the drive sprocket a large 270mm diameter nose "wheel" guides the chain when trenching. The nose wheel is fitted with two triple seal plough bearings to achieve as long a service life as possible. The trencher boom is fitted with bisalloy (high grade wear plate) to the top and bottom of the boom to combat wear caused by chain travelling over these areas.

The main frame is fitted to a 1500mm wide quick attach frame by slide plates which makes it possible to offset the trencher to one side (usually the left), for trenching close to wall, fences etc., although because of the auger set-up, this side shift ability is limited. The overall length of the 900mm digging depth trencher (with the crumber bar folded back) is 2100mm, making it possible to fit the trencher width-way across the back of a truck.
